The Nesoi were the primordial goddesses of islands. Each island has a different deity that personifies it. According to Callimachus, the Nesoi were originally Ourea that Poseidon cast into the sea with his trident.
Etymology[]
It is believed that Nesoi came from the word "Nêsos" which means island or islands. The latin spelling of Nesoi is Nesus or Nesi.
Family[]
If the Nesoi were formerly Ourea or closely related to the Ourea then Gaia was probably their parent.
