Khiron was the centaur who raised Akhilles, Asklepios, and Jason. In some versions he is the only centaur who was wise instead of foolish, in other versions he is a son of Kronos and Philyra, and Kronos took the form of a horse so Rhea would not know it was him.

Another name for Khiron is Chiron, that name can easily be mistaken for Charon, Hades'.
