The Aloadae were the giant sons of Poseidon and the mortal Iphimedia. When they grew up they attacked Mount Olympus and abducted Ares, who stayed trapped with the giants for 13 months. They almost overthrew the gods if it was not for their love for Artemis. Artemis knew they loved her so she used this knowledge and turned into a deer and came between the brothers when they tried to capture her they ended up killing themselves, which deeply saddened Poseidon.
