The Face of Akheron carve into the location where the Akheron River flows out of the Underworld and into the human world
Akheron is an alternative spelling for the God of the river of pain (which also happens to be named after him). Kharon the ferryman takes souls across his river (although there is a misconception that the souls are ferried across the Styx).
